Headaches & Migraines
Headaches are an extremely common condition which can affect the way we function on a daily basis, resulting in inner pain usually around the head. Headaches can often be an underlying symptom for a wide range of conditions and, if not treated effectively, can lead to further issues including migraines.
Usually more severe than headaches, migraines can take the form of throbbing or pulsing in one side of the head and can lead to nausea, vomiting and extreme sensitivity to light or sound. Furthermore, people suffering from migraines can be in pain for days, to the point where it can be debilitating. There are four main stages associated with migraines including:
- Prodrome: warning signs including constipation, mood changes, food cravings, neck stiffness, increased thirst and urination, frequent yawning. and further depression help in Perth:
- Aura: signs experienced before or during a migraine including visual phenomena, vision loss, pins and needles, weakness or numbness, difficulty speaking, hearing noises or music, uncontrollable jerking or other movements.
- Attack: an attack can last between 4 – 72 hours. During this time, you may experience pain on one or both sides of the head, sensitivity to light, sounds, smells or touch, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision and lightheadedness.
- Post-drome: this occurs after an attack and can include confusion, moodiness, dizziness, weakness and sensitivity to light and sound.
